Gislaved Tire was founded in 1893 by Carl and Wilhelm Gislow, who began assembling rubber products in Gislaved, Sweden. The Gislow brothers manufactured the first Swedish tire in 1905, and Gislaved Tire became the original equipment manufacturer for Volvo in 1927. This partnership increased production significantly, and the one millionth tire left the factory in 1949, 44 years after the first.
Gislaved Tire is now a subsidiary of Continental AG, the second-largest tire manufacturer in Europe.
